The UK government intends to implement a unified tax on online gambling, as announced recently by Finance Minister Jeremy Hunt. He made this statement during a speech to members of the House of Commons.
Currently, the tax on income from online casinos in the country is set at 21%. Meanwhile, the tax on sports and racing bets is established at 15% of income.
As Hunt noted, consultations on changing the taxation system will begin in the near future.
It is worth recalling that by the end of the 2022 fiscal year, the UK's revenue from online gambling had decreased by 6% to £6.4 billion.
