The UK's gross gambling revenue (GGY) in the 2022 financial year totalled £14bn. This follows a report published the other day by the Gambling Commission (UKGC), which is based on data from more than 2,400 gambling operators.
Compared to the previous financial year, when the figure stood at £12bn, it is up 11 per cent.
At the same time, UK online gambling revenue fell 6% to £6.4bn at the end of the 2022 financial year.
According to the regulator's report, about 40% of UK adults were gambling participants in the past financial year. 23.6 million residents bought lottery tickets, bet on sports and played other gambling games. If the National Lottery is excluded, the number of gambling participants falls to 15.5 million.
