Responsible Gambling self-help portal launched in Botswana
On April 29th, the Gambling Authority in Botswana took a significant step forward by introducing a Responsible Gambling self-help portal and a 24/7 Toll-Free Line. This initiative was unveiled at the Three Dikgosi Monument in Gaborone, with the participation of Hon. Mmusi Kgafela, the Minister of Trade and Industry, alongside industry leaders and regulatory bodies from across Africa. CEO Mr. Emolemo Peter Kesitilwe expressed his appreciation to all stakeholders for their steadfast support and underscored the significance of teamwork in advancing responsible gambling practices.
The launch of these platforms is a clear demonstration of the Authority's commitment to fostering responsible gambling and providing assistance to those affected. The Gambling Authority, a government body tasked with overseeing gambling in Botswana, plays a crucial role in regulating and monitoring the development of the gambling industry. Their responsibilities include reviewing and issuing licenses, verifying application information, and managing the licensing process.
This development marks a significant milestone in the Authority's efforts to promote responsible gambling practices and support those impacted by gambling.
