Powerball jackpot has exceeded $1.2 billion. According to the lottery organizers, this happened after last Monday's drawing did not reveal the winner of the main prize.

The jackpot was the largest in 2023 and the third in the entire 35-year history of the lottery.

The next drawing will take place on Wednesday evening. According to the lottery rules, the winner will be able to choose to receive the prize in full in equal installments over 29 years or a lump sum payment, which in this case would be $551.7 million.

As a reminder, the odds of winning the Powerball jackpot are 1 in 292.2 million. Powerball tickets cost $2 and are sold in 45 US states, the District of Columbia, Puerto Rico and the US Virgin Islands.

The world record for the largest lottery winnings was set on November 8, 2022. A Powerball ticket sold in Altadena, California netted $2.04 billion.
