Gross gaming revenue from Macau casinos exceeded MOP 17.2 billion in August 2023

In August 2023, Macau casinos had gross gaming revenue (GGR) of MOP 17.213 billion (USD 2.12 billion). This was revealed in a report released on September 1 by the Gaming Inspection and Coordination Bureau (DICJ) of the Special Administrative Region of China.

According to the contents of the document, Macau casino revenues increased by 696.4% compared to the same period in 2022 when they amounted to 2.189 billion patacas.

Macau casino revenues for the eight months of 2023 amounted to 114.01 billion patacas, which is 295.1% more than a year earlier.

Let us recall that in the second quarter of 2023, 30 casinos, including satellite casinos, operated in the special administrative region of China.

13 gambling establishments operated under a license and sublicense from the operator SJM Holdings, 5 belonged to Venetian Casino, 4 each to Galaxy Casino and Melco Resorts, 2 each to Wynn Resorts and MGM. A total of 12,000 slot machines and 6,000 gaming tables were installed in Macau casinos.
