China lottery sales grew 53.6% in August 2023

In August 2023, Chinese residents bought 52.96 billion yuan ($7.26 billion) worth of lottery tickets. This follows from data published recently by the Ministry of Finance of the People's Republic of China.
Compared to the same period in 2022, sales increased by 53.6%.
Sales of lottery tickets to support the sports industry rose to 34.3 billion yuan. Sales of lottery tickets to support China's social security system reached 18.6 billion yuan.
Lotteries sales in the eight months of this year amounted to 375.76 billion yuan, up 51.6% year-on-year.
