China lottery sales down 2.5% in November 2023

In November 2023, Chinese residents bought 50.54 billion yuan ($7.09 billion) worth of lottery tickets. This follows from data published recently by the Ministry of Finance of the People's Republic of China.
Compared to the same period in 2022, sales decreased by 2.5%. At the same time, compared with October 2023, sales increased by 3.2 billion yuan.
Sales of lottery tickets to support the sports industry totaled 33.6 billion yuan, down 13.3% from November 2022. Sales of lottery tickets to support China's social security system reached 16.94 billion yuan, up 29.5% year-on-year.
Lotteries sales for the first 11 months of this year amounted to 526.41 billion yuan, up 45.1% year-on-year.
