Brazilian operator Caixa's lottery sales amounted to 10.34 billion reals

Sales of the Brazilian operator Caixa's lotteries amounted to 10.34 billion reals (2.15 billion dollars) in the first half of 2023. This was reported by the operator - Caixa Econômica Federal, the state bank of Brazil.
The most popular lotteries conducted by Caixa were Mega-Sena and Lotofacil. Sales of the former amounted to 3.7 billion reals, and the latter 3.4 billion reals.
Prize payouts amounted to 3.38 billion reals, which is 1.3% higher than the previous year.
Out of the funds received, 5.12 billion reals were allocated to projects related to public security, healthcare, education, sports, and culture.
Caixa Econômica Federal is the largest state bank in Latin America and a leading provider of mortgage loans in Brazil. Caixa is a 100% state-owned company. In 1961, the bank was given full control over the lotteries.
