A jackpot of 1.76 billion dollars was snapped last Wednesday in the Powerball lottery. This was reported by the organizers of the lottery.

The winning ticket was purchased in the state of California. Information about the lucky winner of the winnings has not yet been released. The ticket guessed all six numbers needed to win the jackpot - 22, 24, 40, 52 and 64, as well as the Powerball - 10. The last Powerball jackpot was drawn on July 19, 2023, after which there have been 35 drawings without a winner being determined.

It is worth noting that the jackpot size was the second largest in lottery history. According to the rules of the lottery, the winner will be able to choose to receive the prize in full in equal installments over 30 years or a lump sum payment of $774.1 million before taxes.

Recall, the largest jackpot in the history of the lottery was won in November 2022, when a resident of California Edwin Castro won a prize of $2.04 billion.

The odds of winning the Powerball jackpot are 1 in 292.2 million. Powerball tickets cost $2 and are sold in 45 U.S. states, the District of Columbia, Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands.
